Situation Update

April 2, 2020

On March 31, we extended our Shelter in Place Order through May 3, 2020.

  • Doing so will help us continue to flatten the curve and preserve our system’s capacity for the anticipated increase in COVID-related care and hospitalizations.
  • The revised order reinforces the importance of social distancing, restricts the use of public spaces, and provides clarifications related to essential and non-essential businesses.

  • Our focus areas include hospital surge planning, long-term care facilities, increased capacity to test and isolate infectious individuals, additional mitigation policies, and supporting vulnerable populations.
  • This week we issued guidance and parameters for COVID-19 testing in non-health care settings.
    • This guidance was developed so that we can ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy in reporting and follow-up across the county and we have assigned dedicated staff to work with any partners who want to launch testing sites.
  • Our hospital surge planning continues to be a top priority, and we are working with our local providers as well as the state. To plan for the needs of communities relying on the safety net, we are working with Alameda Health System and our community clinics network.

The CDC continues to provide and update guidance for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in communities. For additional information visit CDC'S website.

While we certainly feel that table tennis is necessary for everyone's health, and wellbeing, unfortunately the county is not as enlightened as we are. Since they currently have us miscategorized, we need to close till May 3. Stay Safe, and we will see you then!
